'Mr dayes' (f 23v) was the house of Nicholas Dey or Daye, mayor of Southampton in 1528–9. It seems likely that the rewards to Lord Talbot's minstrel and the king's bearward should have been recorded under gifts rather than as presents to Doctor Alyn. Perhaps they were initially not recorded by the scribe, and having left himself no room under gifts, he entered the two rewards to performers immediately above the gifts section of the accounts.
